Tillandsia velutina
Elterjedési területei Mexikó és Guatemala, ahol körülbelül 1800m-es magasságban fordul elő. Levelei a tengelyszár körül spirálisan rendeződnek el, zöldes- szürkés színűek, bársonyos tapintásúak. Virágzáskor a virágzati fellevelek és gyakran az egész levélzet élénk pirosra színeződik. A virágok megbújnak a virágzati fellevelek között, színük lila. Könnyen szaporodó (sarjakat nevel), gyorsan növekedő faj, idővel telepet alkot.
